Wireless link versus print path

A wireless link state describes radio or network attachment. It does not describe discovery, address assignment, print protocol, queue association, or device readiness. Those layers can transition independently.

Discovery state

A discovery service can advertise a printer even when a queue has not been created or when a protocol session is not active. Discovery records should preserve service name, endpoint, and protocol rather than collapse everything into “connected.”

Queue and device states

A queue can be present, paused, or unavailable while the wireless link remains active. A device can report status through a vendor or standard service. State records need their source component and endpoint identity.

This page provides terminology for reading wireless printer records. It does not provide Wi-Fi setup instructions, connection diagnosis, or a promised resolution for a state label.
