Offline printer state reference
What an offline label can mean across queues, ports, protocols, and device-reported status.
Offline is a summary
Offline is a state label applied by a host component or application. It may describe a queue’s current representation, a port’s lack of response, a protocol session, or a device-reported condition; the label alone does not identify which layer produced it.
Queue versus endpoint
A queue can remain present while its endpoint is not currently reachable. Conversely, an endpoint can respond to discovery while a queue is paused or associated with a different port. Offline should therefore be read alongside queue and endpoint identity.
Device-reported status
A printer may report a physical or operational state through a vendor or standard status interface. That report is additional evidence and should not be silently substituted for the host queue state.
Neutral documentation
Record the source, exact wording, protocol, endpoint, queue, and relevant transition. This reference does not diagnose an offline condition, recommend a fix, or present a sequence of corrective actions.
