Canon package identity

A Canon printer package is identified by more than the Canon name. Product family, exact model, host platform, architecture, and connection or protocol context determine which package metadata is relevant. The package can separate rendering behavior from configuration or device-discovery functions.

Rendering is not the transport

A USB or network path carries print data to an endpoint, while a rendering component shapes that data for the device. A standard protocol may provide a shared path; a vendor-specific component may expose additional options described by Canon documentation.

Family labels need context

PIXMA and other Canon family names are useful navigation terms, not proof that every model in a family shares one package. A reference should preserve the exact model string and distinguish printer interfaces from scanner or utility interfaces.
