A plain-language reference to laser printer terminology, print rendering, consumables, and device interfaces.

What “laser” describes
Laser printer is a process-family term associated with electrophotographic image formation. It describes a device category, not one package format, network protocol, or universal driver. Brother uses the term across product records whose interfaces still need individual identification.
Host rendering remains separate
The host renderer creates a device-understandable representation before transport delivers it. A laser process does not determine whether the host uses a standard protocol, a vendor language, or a class-oriented path.
Consumable and device vocabulary
Consumables, imaging components, paper handling, and printer status are device concepts that may be represented through configuration or status interfaces. They should not be conflated with the print renderer or with a network connection.
Model-level evidence
Brother documentation defines the capabilities of a particular laser model. A family label is a useful index term, while the exact model, package metadata, protocol, and host platform define the actual compatibility relationship.

Questions and answers
Does every Brother laser printer share one driver?
No. The category describes a process family; model, platform, interface, and package metadata still define compatibility.
Is laser a network technology?
No. Laser describes device imaging, while USB, Wi-Fi, and network protocols describe transport.
